Named after famed explorer Zebulon Pike, the mountain, since its discovery in 1806, has become the second most visited peak in the world. Reaching a height of 14,110 feet above sea level, it is a part of the Rocky Mountain Front Range, and the summit can be reached via the Pike's Peak Highway. Visitors can ascend to the summit via the historic Pike's Peak Railway, an actual operating cog railroad that departs from Manitou Springs, or drive to the top and take a short stroll.
